A 27-year old suspect who was being questioned by Greek police officials about the heinous murder of a 34-year old woman in Xanthi (featured on HellasFrappe on Thursday) finally confessed to his involvement in the crime. The perpetrator not only abused, stabbed and raped his victim, he then wanted to erase any evidence of his involvement and also burned her alive. And all this just seconds before the young woman entered her parents home just days after arriving to Xanthi from Thessaloniki in order to celebrate the Christmas holidays with them.

This 27-year old monster had been arrested in the past on charges of rape and drug use, and was the key suspect in this gruesome crime.

At first he insisted he was innocent, but reports are now saying that after the police conducted a small investigation in his home and presented him with other types of evidence he had no choice but to confess to his crimes.

His confession sounds like something from a Hollywood thriller because it is just as shocking. He calmly told the police that he was passing through the area by chance around the time that the victim was returning from an outing with her girl friend, and the reason he decided to rape her was because he was sexually drawn to her. Then, with full consciousness of his actions, he told them that he decided to burn the body of the victim in order to cover his tracks.

The rape took place in the open space behind the girl's apartment building.

Police authorities were on his trail after they discovered a fingerprint on one of the cars that were parked in the lot where the atrocious act was committed. They said that a local security guard (from a well-known security company) also told them that he spotted the perpetrator wondering around the area a little before the tragedy, but that he was intoxicated. Finally, street cameras also recorded the perpetrator following his victim and her friend just a little before the crime.

The gruesome crime has indeed shocked the local community in Xanthi, as well as the general public across Greece. On Thursday and Friday many fans of Facebook from Xanthi, and other areas across the country, replaced their profile pictures with an empty black one in respect to her memory.
