25-Year Old Paiania Resident Kills Burglar Out Of Self-Defence (VIDEOS)

Crime is rampant, and citizens are now taking the law into their own hands. A 23-year old Greek national shot and killed a 43-year old foreigner who illegally entered his home (twice) with the intention of robbing it at the junction of Michalopoulou and Papageorgiou in Paiania, Attiki.  According to television news reports, shortly after 02:00 am on Thursday morning two Albanian nationals attempted to break into several homes in the northern Athens suburb but their presence was quickly perceived by the occupants. They attempted to break into the first home, but the residents quickly took notice and the perpetrators fled the scene and only 3 minutes later (and while the residents from the first home were calling the police) the robbers attempted to break into yet another home only to be met by a loud screeching alarm. The homeowner, female, was sitting in the living room while they illegally entered her home, and the robbers asked her to turn it off by placing a knife to her throat. Little did they know that she had two sons, who heard the commotion and they began to chase the perpetrators who fled to an unknown location. The noise woke up even more locals, and a third resident saw them jumping into the courtyard of yet another home and he quickly grabbed his hunting rifle and fired several shots in the air to intimidate them. It worked. The perpetrators were now desperately encircled and the police were already on their way. Panicked, and for some bizarre reason, the perpetrators decided to return to the second home they attempted to rob (with the screeching alarm). This time however,  and after hearing the gunfire they were met by the 23-year old resident, who apparently shot and killed one of the robbers in self-defence after his rifle backfired. The Albanian national fell dead instantly. The Greek national quickly turned himself in, and is currently being held at police headquarters. (More on this story as it develops during the day).
